Thoughts on The Martian

One last post for the night:

I recently read Andy Weir's The Martian (originally published in 2011 and re-released in 2014). It was a quick read and offered an interesting premise detailing the life of an astronaut stranded on Mars. The astronaut was a likable fellow, though one wonders how believable his story of survival is. Also, he has a lot of bad luck--signaled conveniently by a shift to third-person narration--just when things look hopeful. It is not the worst science fiction book I have read, but I also cannot buy into the hype and say it is among the best. Perhaps the upcoming film will alter my feelings on the story.

Further details about the book can be found online at the publisher's website at http://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/234102/the-martian-movie-tie-in-by-andy-weir/paperback#.
